Currently vs. Actually

A question by Peter:
I have an English composition homework. I'm stuck because I don't want to just write "now".

So what's the difference between "currently" and "actually"? Do both mean "presently"?

Answer:

No, not both of them.

"Currently" is similar to "presently". It means "at the moment". For example, "Currently we have 100 employees but we'd like to hire more people next year."

"Actually" has a different meaning though. It means "in fact, really". "Question: I've heard you love cats, is it true?" Answer: "Actually, it isn't. I prefer dogs."
